The map below shows where people were shot in Chicago, broken down by community area. Darker shades of blue indicate greater numbers of victims in those community areas.
This data is compiled from reporting done by the Chicago Tribune Breaking News staff and is typically updated more than once per week. Therefore, the most recent shootings may not be displayed immediately.
At least 50 killed, 300 shot in Chicago so far in January, CPD says
A liquor store clerk shot on Chicago’s North Side was the latest victim in a month where the gun violence has surged as police try to get it under control.
According to the latest reports on crime numbers for January, most of the murders occurred on the South and West sides of the city.
Chicago police said last year that 51 people were murdered in January 2016. Chicago Police Chief Spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Tuesday that 50 people were murdered in that time period.
So far in 2017, reports said at least 52 people have been murdered and about 300 people were shot. That’s slightly higher than in the same period last year. Guglielmi said Tuesday that 50 people had been murdered so far this year.
Trump to Rahm: Get Chicago violence under control or feds will step in
President-elect Donald Trump said Monday that if Mayor Rahm Emanuel can’t turn the tide on Chicago’s soaring murder rate, Washington may need to step in.
Trump, who frequently cited Chicago’s violence during the presidential campaign, tweeted about The Windy City a day after the Chicago Police Department released year-end crime stats showing homicide numbers that dwarfed those of New York and Los Angeles combined.
“Chicago murder rate is record setting – 4,331 shooting victims with 762 murders in 2016. If Mayor can’t do it he must ask for Federal help!” Trump tweeted.
Trump sets dizzying WH pace in first days
In his first days in office, President Trump is taking on a dizzying schedule that is decidedly different from those of his immediate predecessors.
Trump is in the Oval Office to take meetings earlier than President Obama, and he’s worked through dinner to stay in the West Wing later than President George W. Bush, who would generally return to his residence at 6 p.m. sharp.
Trump doesn’t like to read books, those who know him say. And he doesn’t work out because he believes it’s an energy drain, according to the 2016 book “Trump Revealed.”
“When you’re making speeches for 25,000 people and shouting and screaming and having fun with everybody and making America great again, you get a lot of exercise,” he told People magazine last summer.
Government to pay for sex with prostitutes
Germany Green Party pledges to pay for free sex with prostitutes for anyone who needs ‘sexual assistance’ and can’t afford it
German Green Party care spokeswoman Elisabeth Scharfenberg revealed plans
She said doctors should be given the right to issue free prescriptions for sex
Patients would need a medical note saying they can’t get sex any other way
Prostitution is legal in Germany and women have been selling sex in care home
Sex with prostitutes will be paid for by the Government for anyone too poor for a hooker and deemed to need sexual assistance under German Green Party plans.
The party’s care spokeswoman Elisabeth Scharfenberg says doctors should have the right to issue the free prescriptions to their patients for ladies of the night.
Prostitution is legal in Germany and carries little of the taboos associated with it in many other countries.
There are brothels in virtually every town and a trend recently began with working girls offering ‘sexual assistance’ to dementia sufferers, the handicapped and people living in care homes.Share on Facebook Tweet about this
