Hilariously points out anti-Trump jokester’s unfashionable footwear.

Comedian/writer Patton Oswalt hosted the Writers Guild Awards and as part of his schtick had two “Russian soldiers” standing guard near the podium for security — an obvious jab at Donald Trump’s alleged ties to Vladimir Putin. But just before Oswalt was able to crank out any more jokes aimed at the president’s expense, outspoken conservative actor James Woods, who was sitting right in front of the podium, leapt onstage to shut him down.
“I want to be very careful making jokes about [Trump] because one, I don’t want to be kicked to death by James Woods backstage, which would be an honor, by the way. That guy is amazing,” Oswalt said.
A tux-clad Woods launched a sneak attack from below the stage but missed. He then sat back down and began heckling Oswalt’s choice of black tennis shoes that the comedian assured him were chosen for comfort only. At that point, Woods successfully made it onstage and pulled off the shoe to show the audience, who, at this point, were in stitches.
“Look at this f***ing shoe,” Woods said, holding up the offending footwear. “This is an awards show!”
Before exiting, Woods said he lost half his Twitter following just for being at the show attended by so many liberals.
Later on Twitter, Oswalt assured his fans that the light-hearted exchange was not staged at all and added he enjoyed Woods’ “genuine self-deprecating sense of humor” and that he could “give as good as he gets.” Oswalt said they met up later backstage, where Woods didn’t kick him to death as feared, but instead told “a hilarious/f***ed up James Toback story.”
Like we needed another reason to like James Woods.
