Little by Little

Freedoms being taken away little by little

All through my school years, I was taught about the great freedoms we have in this great country of ours.

All through my school years, I was taught about the great freedoms we have in this great country of ours.

In the past 40 years, I have seen these freedoms being taken away little by little. First came our First Amendment right to pray when and where we wanted. The First Amendment does not say, freedom from religion, it says freedom of religion.

In reading what the Founding Fathers had to say about this, it would seem to me it means, the right to pray to whomever we wanted, where and whenever we wanted, without fear of persecution from anyone.
“Little by little, we’ve allowed our freedom to slip away,”

The government’s authority to sweep up vast quantities of phone records in the hunt for terrorists was set to expire at 12:01 a.m. Monday after Senator Rand Paul, Republican of Kentucky, blocked an extension of the program during an extraordinary and at times caustic Sunday session of the Senate.

Still, the Senate signaled that it was ready to curtail the National Security Agency’s bulk data collection program with likely passage this week of legislation that would shift the storage of telephone records from the government to the phone companies. The House overwhelmingly passed that bill last month. Senators voted, 77 to 17, on Sunday to take up the House bill.

Europe’s Slow Rot

Threats to the EU and liberal democracy are developing in mundane, not dramatic, fashion

After everything that Europeans saw last year – the Brexit vote, the attack in Nice, the coup in Turkey and the Italian referendum – the default expectation is that Europe will again be in a firefighting mode in 2017. However, the expectation of more drama is counterproductive if Europeans are to push back against the biggest threat facing the continent – a slow-motion disintegration of the EU and erosion of liberal democracy.

Instead of big-bang resets or global conflicts, the biggest dangers to Europe are coming from sources that might seem mundane. As the Scottish philosopher David Hume noted, “it is seldom that liberty of any kind is lost all at once.” The EU does not have to implode dramatically in order to become irrelevant. And European countries do not have to go through violent revolutions in order to end up looking increasingly like Russia and Turkey.
Liberalism and Political Correctness Heralds the Destruction of America

‘There is no greater weapon the left deploys than the ignorance of the average American.’

We are in the most trying times in American history, probably the most dangerous times in the entire history of human civilization. Since the conception of rulers and the ruled, knowledge has been kept from the masses, the rulers being viewed as something akin to gods. The advent of technology has given every single person the ability to gain knowledge of anything they want, knowledge is no longer kept hidden from the people, it has become inundated with so much garbage that there are very few who can sift through to find the truth.

It’s a sad state, to see the actions of the left and their flowery words in such contrast, yet a minority of people even care to actually look at their actions. The media, which has essentially become state-run, since the repeal of the Smith-Mundt act, they do not herald truth but talking points and agenda driven lies. People accept it as absolute truth, they do not see the truth, and when truth rears its’ ugly head, the left lashes out.
