Liam Fitzgerald loves all the Boston-area teams but the Bruins top his list. The second grader, who has Down syndrome and has already beaten cancer, was a guest of the Bruins at Tuesday’s game.

The 8-year-old starred in a YouTube clip where he sat, decked out in Bruins black and gold, on the edge of Boston’s bench and gave the players fist bumps as they skated off the ice following the pre-game warmups Tuesday.

Liam’s mom, Christine, told Boston.com that her son — who has Down syndrome and is also a cancer survivor — is a fan of all Boston-area teams, but the Bruins top his list. In 2013 he dressed up as B’s defenseman Adam McQuaid, who eventually learned of Liam’s fondness for him and hosted the Fitzgeralds at a game last season and again on Tuesday.

“I can tell you they are the nicest group of guys,” Christine Fitzgerald told Boston.com. “The fact that they are these big, tough hockey players who take the time to talk to him. He just beams from ear to ear. It makes you love that team even more.”

is mom says the second grader begins his day by watching highlights on his iPad. His nights are spent watching games, not cartoons, until mom and dad tell him it’s time for bed..

“People tell us he’s so cute, and this and that. He was given to us to raise and given to the world to love,” Christine Fitzgerald told Boston.com. “He brings joy to people. There’s something about him that draws people him. His smile, his personality. He’s just such a joyful person. He’s taught us a lot about life.”
