Obama Slams Fox News, Says ‘We’re Going to Have to Change how the Media Reports’
President Obama is apparently not a big fan of a free press that reports facts or perhaps provides a different slant than his media lapdogs because he’s recently said some pretty scary stuff about needing to “change how the media reports” things.
Obama specifically targeted Fox News, saying they purposefully craft a narrative that makes poor people look like lazy moochers, and thus make his progressive big government welfare programs look bad.
Yeah, because lefty outlets are fair and balanced and would NEVER slant a story in favor of the president or his agenda, right?

“I think that the effort to suggest that the poor are sponges, leeches, don’t want to work, are lazy, are undeserving, got traction. And look, it’s still being propagated. I have to say that if you watch Fox News on a regular basis, it is a constant venue. They will find folks who make me mad. I don’t know where they find them. They’re all like, “I don’t want to work. I just want a free Obama Phone, or whatever.” And that becomes an entire narrative that gets worked up. And very rarely do you hear an interview of a waitress, which is much more typical — who is raising a couple of kids and doing everything right but still can’t pay the bills.
And so, if we’re going to change how Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) and Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY) think, we’re going to have to change how our body politic thinks, which means we’re going to have to change how the media reports on these issues, and how people’s impressions of what it’s like to struggle in this economy looks like. And how budgets connect to that.
I find it hilarious that a man who grew up privileged wants to lecture the rest of us about how we should be treating the poor.
The man attended several fancy private schools, lived with well-to-do grandparents in Hawaii, then attended two of the most prestigious Ivy League schools in the country, yet he thinks he knows the plight of those in poverty?
Yeah. Right.
Another thing the president doesn’t seem to understand is that Fox News and other right-leaning networks do their best to present facts and a different side of the story than what’s being presented in liberal media.
Believe it or not, most Americans are still fans of the truth and want to make up their own minds on an issue instead of having it made up for them, which is why Fox News continues to beat out the competition.
Journalism doesn’t exist to cater to and push his agenda, which is exactly what he wants all media outlets to do. It exists to hold public figures and elected officials accountable for their actions and to bust them when they’re guilty of corruption.
Unfortunately, not very many news outlets believe in real journalism anymore, so most don’t do the job they’re supposed to be doing.
Obama is frustrated with Fox News because they hold him accountable for his actions and try to fairly represent all sides of a story.
Perhaps one day the concept of being fair and balanced will seep into Obama’s brain and he’ll start attempting to put this principle into practice in how he governs.
