Brian talks With New Wexit Leader Jay Hill
Former Harper minister to lead new federal Canada Wexit Party
“After 17 years of working in Parliament I have reluctantly recognized that the West will never be treated fairly,” said Wexit Canada leader Jay Hill.
Veteran B.C. MP Jay Hill has been chosen to lead the new Wexit Canada party with a goal to have all four western province hold a vote on independence.
Hill, who served 17 years in the House of Commons, including being the chief government whip, said the goal of the new party is to push for fairness for Western Canada – much like the Bloc Quebecois has done for Quebec.
Hill said former party leader Peter Downing has stepped aside and at a recent Zoom meeting of a new board he was asked to become the interim party leader. The party has already been registered with Elections Canada.
“I have written a number of columns that Western Canada is not getting a fair deal, and likely never will,” Hill said Tuesday in an interview with the Western Standard.
“After 17 years of working in Parliament I have reluctantly recognized that the West will never be treated fairly, because of the Golden Triangle of Toronto, Montreal and Ottawa. It’s a Golden Triangle because of the way they fleece the West.”
Hill said it was the results of the October election that gave Prime Minister Justin Trudeau a minority government that made him decide to take a more active role.
