New York City Mayor Eric Adams has been indicted by a grand jury on charges related to a federal investigation.
The indictment against Adams, expected to be unsealed on Thursday, is the first for a sitting NYC mayor.
Sources indicated Adams will surrender to authorities early next week.

The historic indictment follows numerous members of Adams’ inner circle submitting their resignations, including former NYPD Commissioner Edward Caban.

Details about the exact accusations remained unclear, but they are believed to be connected to allegations of the Turkish government illegally funneling money into his mayoral campaign in exchange for approval of the Turkish Consulate in Manhattan, according to sources.
Sources said the mayor is facing a charge of acting as an unregistered foreign agent after accepting donations from foreign entities.
“It is now my belief that the federal government intends to charge me with federal crimes. If so, these charges will be entirely false, based on lies,” Adams said.
“I always knew that if I stood my ground for all of you, that I would be a target — and a target I became,” he continued.
“I will fight these injustices with every ounce of my strength and my spirit,” he added.
