PA judge extends early voting in Bucks County until Friday

“Defendants actions in turning away voters who sought to apply for a mail-in ballot and receive one in person before the deadline of 5:00 pm on October 29, 2024 violated the Pennsylvania Election Code.”

On Wednesday, a Pennsylvania judge extended early voting in Bucks County until Friday. The deadline was originally Tuesday.

“Defendants actions in turning away voters who sought to apply for a mail-in ballot and receive one in person before the deadline of 5:00 pm on October 29, 2024 violated the Pennsylvania Election Code,” the order from Judge Jeffrey Trauger read.

“Defendants shall permit any persons who wishes to apply for, receive, vote, and return a mail-in ballot to appear at the Elections Bureau office and do so during normal business hours before the close of business on November 1, 2024.”

The order was issued after the Trump campaign brought forth a lawsuit against the county Wednesday morning, saying that people who had been in line before the deadline Tuesday should have been able to receive their ballot even after the 5 pm deadline. Bucks County’s election office denied voters’ ability to receive ballots and ordered them to leave, the Associated Press reported.

“This is a direct violation of Pennsylvanians’ rights to cast their ballot — and all voters have a right to STAY in line,” the Trump campaign said in a statement.
