UK School Guidance Warns Children’s Drawings Could Be ‘Blasphemous’ Under Islamic Law

by David Lindfield

Local councils have issued guidance to schools across northern England, warning that some classroom activities, including children’s drawings and music and dance classes, could conflict with Muslim beliefs and be viewed as “blasphemous” under strict Islamic laws.

The guidance appears in a publication titled “Sharing The Journey,” which has been circulated to teachers by several left-wing local councils.

The move is part of an effort by the UK’s ruling socialist Labour Party to supposedly encourage “sensitivity” toward religious and cultural differences in schools.

However, the new guidelines do not include any information on sensitivity toward Christianity or the protection of traditional celebrations such as Easter or Christmas.

According to the document, schools should be mindful that certain elements of the curriculum may raise concerns for some Muslim parents.

Guidance Urges Schools to Show “Sensitivity”

The booklet explains that schools should aim to “demonstrate a sensitive and positive approach to religious and cultural diversity to pupils, parents and carers.”

It adds: “Schools will want to be flexible in catering for religious differences.”

The guidance specifically notes that some Muslim families may have sensitivities regarding aspects of the curriculum, including art, dance, drama, music, physical education, religious education, and RSHE.

Concerns Raised About Art Class

In the section discussing art classes, the document states that while Islamic culture has a long artistic tradition, there are certain religious restrictions that some Muslims follow.

“A three-dimensional imagery of humans is considered idolatrous by some Muslims,” the guidance warns.
