Remix News, the indispensable and unique news source chronicling the manifold glories of mass Muslim migration and multiculturalism in Europe, ran a video on Sunday containing the testimony of Celine, a 22-year-old girl in France, who“describes how two North African immigrants sexually harassed and threatened her and her friend.”
Celine recounted that one of the migrants said to one of the young women: “I’m going to rape you, dirty white girl… You’re scared, dirty white girl?”
Why is the white girl “dirty”? It isn’t at its core a racial issue. The man who spoke those words was likely working from the assumption that is encapsulated in this Qur’an verse: “O you who believe, the idolaters only are unclean. So do not let them come near the sacred mosque after this year. If you fear poverty, Allah will preserve you out of his bounty if he wills. Indeed, Allah is the knower, the wise.” (9:28)
The unbelievers are unclean, and also must be humiliated, as is the mandate in the verse immediately following that one, wherein the Qur’an tells Muslims to fight to ensure that “the people of the book” “feel themselves subdued” (9:29). Rape is a tool of that humiliation.
The Qur’an passage establishing this stipulates that because the unbelievers are unclean, they must not enter the sacred mosque. Shi’ites in particular regard this as a matter of ritual purity. The contemporary Iraqi Shi’ite Ayatollah al-Sayyid Ali al-Husseinial-Sistani, whom naïve Americans hailed as a “moderate” in the early years of the Iraq war, classifies unbelievers among other impure, unclean things such as urine, feces, semen, blood, dead bodies, and dogs.
Sistanti explained: “An infidel i.e. a person who does not believe in Allah and His Oneness, is Najis [unclean]…. As regards the people of the Book (i.e. the Jews and the Christians) who do not accept the Prophethood of Prophet Muhammad bin Abdullah (Peace be upon him and his progeny), they are commonly considered najis, but it is not improbable that they are Pak [clean]. However, it is better to avoid them. The entire body of a Kafir, including his hair and nails, and all liquid substances of his body, are najis.”
A mainstream Sunni commentary on the Qur’an agrees. The Tafsir al-Jalalayn says that the polytheists are unclean because of their inner “foulness,” and the fifteenth-century Islamicscholar as-Suyuti adds that some say “they are actually impure so that they must do ghusl [the full ablution] if they become Muslim and one must do wudu [the partial ablution] after shaking hands with them.”
