The images pouring out of Ceuta are hard to miss.
So is who appears to be in them.
A viral video from Spain’s border with Morocco shows a huge crowd surging through an open gate. The people visible in the clip appear overwhelmingly to be young men.
Watch closely. In this footage, there is not a woman or small child readily identifiable anywhere in the crowd.

Ceuta is Spanish territory on the North African coast. Once someone crosses into the enclave from neighboring Morocco, that person has entered both Spain and the European Union.
The Associated Press independently confirmed that thousands streamed into Ceuta on Thursday. Its reporting described crowds, mainly Moroccans, moving around the Tarajal breakwaters and onto local roads as authorities struggled to control the frontier.
Ceuta’s regional president, Juan Jesús Vivas, urged Madrid to declare a national emergency, reinforce the police presence, and send the army. Reception facilities were already overwhelmed before the latest mass crossing.
The broader surge did include minors and some women, according to AP and Spanish local reporting. That does not change the narrower and striking fact captured in these particular viral images: the crowd shown passing through the gate appears overwhelmingly male and overwhelmingly young.
