“This is the hour of doom.”
In the year 1095, at the Council of Clermont, Pope Urban II called on the peoples of Christendom to liberate Jerusalem from Muslim occupation. “Deus vult!” the cry arose. God wills it. Christendom answered.
That was a different era. The modern West is no longer Christendom but a secular civilization in decline, capitulating to a dual threat that has breached the gates: the unholy Red-Green alliance of the radical Left and Islamic supremacism. These unlikely bedfellows are united in their fervor to raze Western order and to establish utopia on its ashes – for the Left, a godless, “equitable” collective; for Muslims, a theocratic caliphate under sharia. For now, it doesn’t matter that their respective totalitarian worldviews are incompatible; their tactical cooperation is conquering Europe and has taken root even in the United States. But instead of a Pope Urban rallying the Church Militant, we are hamstrung with effeminate globalist elites—political, academic, ecclesiastical, and media—who preach “interfaith dialogue,” the demonization of America and Israel, and open borders while the cities of Europe begin to burn.
One of those elites, French President Emmanuel Macron, addressing the nation about the rioting currently ravaging his country, asked in bewilderment, “How can French people do this to France?” The answer is that the perpetrators are either not French (regardless of their citizenship status; it is the radicalized second- and third-generation immigrants who are the most anti-Western) or they are French but have been indoctrinated to lust for the bloody end of capitalism. “France was not invaded by hordes of Muslim immigrants,” Macron denies, even as the internet teems with video evidence. “Those images are false, it’s AI and foreign manipulation.” He insists that the devastation is merely the youth of France “expressing great anguish and concern about the future… We need to pay heed to what they are saying.” Yes, and what they are saying loud and clear is, “Free Palestine!” and “Allahu Akbar!”
Macron’s response betrays his unconscionable weakness and willful blindness. In response, Blackwater founder Erik Prince correctly tweeted, “You are a weak twat and a fraction of a man. Save your country, defend French heritage or get out of the way and let the adults fix it the way Napoleon did” – referring to the notorious incident in which a young General Napoleon, faced with an insurgent mob that refused to disperse, gave them “a whiff of grapeshot” from cannons at close quarters, crushing the royalist threat.
Philosopher Peter Boghossian posed this hypothetical on X:
Tens of thousands of rioters are approaching the Louvre. They have vowed to burn it down along with EVERYTHING in it. You are an advisor to the French govt. Security informs you that the ONLY way to stop the rioters is to gun them all down. There would be a minimum of 1000 deaths. Do you advise security to shoot?
The correct answer is yes, although it wouldn’t actually take 1000 deaths to deter the mob. Some may find that response shocking, or beyond the pale of a civilized liberal democracy. After all, what is the difference between a Western government firing on protesters, and the Iranian regime firing on its protesters, which we utterly condemn? The difference is that the evil mullahs are putting down a legitimate protest for freedom against a repressive theocracy, whereas those looting, rioting, and burning in the West are violent revolutionaries seeking to overthrow a free, representative government and the free market, and to erect a totalitarian infrastructure in its stead. Firing on them to protect the Louvre, as in Boghossian’s example, is not about suppressing freedom or valuing property over life; it’s about defending civilization against the forces of chaos and destruction.
Law and order must be restored, but police action is not enough, and besides, the West is at war. The military must be engaged, and the mobs gleefully burning down France must be crushed there and elsewhere, just as an invading army must be violently repelled.
