Rob Ford vs Homosexual Parade – Gun Control Activist Arrested

Rob Ford says Pride flag doesn’t represent all Canadians

Before he came out in an orange jersey dwarfed by a local-boy-turned-Denver Broncos’ offensive lineman but after a protest by teenagers who think he is a bad role model, Mayor Rob Ford continued his futile push to remove a gay Pride flag at city hall and replace it with a Canadian one.
The flag controversy erupted Friday, when the mayor found out that a rainbow-coloured flag had replaced a City of Toronto flag on a courtesy flagpole used to display a range of organizations and nations. The Pride flag was raised in solidarity with the LGBTQ community in Russia during the Olympics, at the request of a community group; Mayor Ford said it should be about patriotism and not someone’s sexual preference.
A Canadian flag was never taken down in this flap. In fact, there are several Canadian flags on display in Nathan Phillips Square.

Gun Control Activist Arrested

In an incident seen by some as a bit of supreme irony, a local “gun control” proponent has been arrested on two felony charges for bringing a concealed handgun into a New York elementary school, causing “an hours long lockdown,” The Buffalo News reported Friday.

“Dwayne Ferguson … was a well-known face in the movement for the SAFE Act, the state law that made carrying a gun on school property a felony,” the report explains. “He was among local activists who stood with Assemblywoman Crystal Peoples-Stokes last year lobbying for a law that would make possessing a gun on school property a felony. Prior to New York State’s adoption of the SAFE Act last year, in response to the Sandy Hook school massacre in Connecticut, it was a long-established state law that guns could not be brought onto school property. The only difference was that the crime carried less punishment as a misdemeanor.”
