Dirty Harry Reid – Obama The Great Divider

Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus had harsh words for Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) on Wednesday, accusing the senator of using taxpayer money for partisan purposes and therefore violating the Senate’s ethics policy.
On Fox News, Priebus called Reid “so dirty and so unethical,” and he said Reid had violated Senate rules by posting political attacks of the billionaire Koch brothers on his official Senate website and Twitter account. The rules prohibit the “use of Senate Internet Services for personal, promotional, commercial, or partisan political/campaign purposes.”
The GOP chairman said the Louisiana Republican Party has filed a letter with the Senate Ethics Committee calling for an investigation into Reid’s online conduct.
“We’re going to take it as far as we can to make sure people understand that this guy will stop at nothing to lie to the American people,” Priebus said.

Socialist Senator Dirty Harry Reid, the Senate Majority Leader, appears to be losing his mind. There have been rumors in Nevada, where this Blogger lives, the Reid has suffered a series of mini-strokes over the years, which may account for his usual foot in mouth disease. What the Senator apparently does not realize is that his statements are on video so when he lies, it is easy to see the truth.
A few weeks ago Dirty Harry went on the Senate Floor to tell all Americans that those people complaining of horror stories, as a result of ObamaCare, were all liars financed by the Koch Brothers.

Obama The Divider

Yet Obama’s brutal negativity can’t simply be brushed aside as the inevitable surrender of idealism to realism. It’s true that presidents have often lamented the shrillness of American politics. Abraham Lincoln sought to “bind up the nation’s wounds.” George W. Bush originally ran for office as “a uniter, not a divider.” Even Richard Nixon said his “great objective” would be “to bring the American people together.” But only Obama made national unity and bipartisan harmony the justification for his candidacy.

It never happened. The 44th president has been nothing like the healer-in-chief he promised to be. Early on he took the low road, inflaming resentments, demonizing his critics, and, yes, pitting red Americans against blue Americans. His defenders argue that he had no choice — that in the face of unremitting Republican opposition, going negative was his only option.

WHEN the annals of presidential nicknames are updated a few years hence, it will be obvious that Barack Obama began earning a certain designation virtually from the day he took office in 2009.
The Great Divider.

This will be an appendix to a list that includes The Great Emancipator (Lincoln), The American Cincinnatus (Washington), The Apostle of Democracy (Jefferson) and The Great Communicator (Reagan). These are flattering descriptions. They are also earned descriptions — unlike irreverent and partisan monikers such as Martin Van Ruin (Van Buren) and The Human Iceberg (Benjamin Harrison).

The Great Divider is an apt choice for Obama. He has earned it. The sobriquet isn’t overtly partisan: Much of the man’s political success owes to his penchant for dividing people into camps and appealing to one group by diminishing the other. This has been good for his career. But it has not been good for the United States of America.
