Criminals Assaulted This Mom A Concealed Carry Permit Saved Her
It’s a story that anti-gun activists won’t want you to hear: A 30-year-old mom was saved from an assault and mugging in Texas, after an armed citizen stepped in. Surveillance cameras captured video of exactly what happened.
Police say that two criminals, a male and a female, targeted the mother to steal from her, and were literally dragging her across a parking lot outside a shopping center in Houston.
“This lady opens her car door, grabs the woman’s purse and they reverse. While they’re trying to reverse, the lady is holding on to her purse still, chasing them all the way to the middle,” said one witness.
They almost got away with the assault and theft — but not quite. A nearby citizen saw the incident, and decided to act. He drew his concealed handgun and ordered the criminals to stop. Then, he held the perpetrators at gunpoint until police arrived at the scene.
When the Houston Police Department arrived, they inspected the armed citizen’s handgun — and then gave it back to him. It seems that common sense still exists in Texas.
“The citizen did what he thought was right at the time. In some instances, witnesses do that and other times they play it safer and just get good descriptions,” said a police representative. The department says they don’t endorse the actions of the armed citizen, but also believe he acted within the law.
The names of the armed Good Samaritan and the mother have not yet been released, pending court proceedings against the two criminals.
