California Death Penalty – 2% Clergy Paedophiles

Today Brian Talks about California Death Penalty – 2% Clergy Pedophiles – CBC wants more Money.

In ruling California’s death penalty unconstitutional, a federal judge said Wednesday the system is so broken it unfairly leaves inmates with uncertain fates — often for decades.

In his decision, Santa Ana-based Judge Cormac J. Carney vacated the 1995 death sentence of Ernest D. Jones, who petitioned the court to determine whether his death sentence was valid.

Carney wrote: “Allowing this system to continue to threaten Mr. Jones with the slight possibility of death, almost a generation after he was first sentenced, violates the Eighth Amendment’s prohibition against cruel and unusual punishment. ”

Clergy

An interview that credits Pope Francis as saying about 2% of Roman Catholic clerics are pedophiles stirred controversy Sunday, as the Vatican sought to raise questions about the article’s accuracy and others called on the pope to take more action on the issue.

The remarks, reported in in the Italian newspaper La Repubblica, came a week after the pope asked for forgiveness in his first meeting with victims of clerical sexual abuse.
The interview by Eugenio Scalfari, published Sunday, quotes the pope as calling the rash of sex abuse scandals “a leprosy in our home” and saying the pedophiles include “priests and even bishops and cardinals,” according to a CBS News translation. “And others, even more numerous, know about it but keep quiet, they punish without saying the reason why. I find this state of things untenable and it is my intention to confront it with the severity it requires.”

CBC Wants more Money

Be warned — CBC wants to dip into your wallet to make you pay more.

The CRTC is holding hearings into the future of Canadian television. This was prompted after the Harper government said it wanted to give Canadians more choice in what they can choose to pay for and what they watch when it comes to their cable and satellite packages.

The idea is, let Canadians unbundle and just pay for what they want to subscribe to. Lots of Canadians think they already pay too much for their cable bills because they don’t watch half the channels. Most of us see this as a way to pay less for TV.

Not CBC, they see this as a way to get you to pay more.

CBC president Hubert Lacroix, the guy who double-dipped on his expenses to the tune of near $30,000 (which he later repaid), now wants to double, triple or even quadruple dip into your pocket.
