How recoil spring rate affects timing
Shooting Times
Recoil spring rate must be balanced with the ammunition in order to keep the gun running reliably and to prevent excess wear from battering. Spring rate affects timing during the recoil and feeding cycle. If the recoil spring is too strong, the gun won’t cycle reliably. This can cause failures in extraction and ejection, and feeding malfunctions by not going far enough to the rear, or by cycling so fast that the round in the magazine hasn’t been pushed up far enough for proper engagement.

2014: A banner year for the Second Amendment
The Federalist
In 2014, Americans showed the strongest support for gun rights they have in more than two decades. It was a year in which gun control became more of a liability for the Left than an asset. TIME

Seventy years after he was shot down by the Germans and bailed out of a B-24 bomber on his 19th birthday, World War II veteran Thomas Boyd of Sunnyvale, California, jumped out of another plane — this time on his own terms. On his 89th birthday recently, Boyd went sky diving over eastern Contra Costa County to commemorate the terrifying ordeal when the handle of his ripcord broke off and he limped under cover of night for days to safety. It was important, he said, to bring closure to the nightmares that haunted him for years.

MIA widow grateful to finally know how pilot husband died in Vietnam
The Gazette via Stars and Stripes
For 42 years, Ann Duffy wondered exactly what happened on April 27, 1972. That was the day her husband, Thomas Duffy, went missing in action in Vietnam after the F-4 Phantom he was piloting went down over Da Nang bay. About all Ann knew was that the radar/weapons officer in the backseat had ejected and survived. But she never knew why “Duff,” as she calls her husband, didn’t make it out of the fighter jet.

The best way for you to preserve the memories of this hunt forever, while at the same time paying proper respect to the animal, is to take a good trophy photo. Most of us have limited space for taxidermy in the house, but photographs are cheap and take up almost no space. Unfortunately, taking a good trophy photo is a task that countless hunters mess up each year, wasting a precious opportunity to capture the moment.

Which states wanted guns the most last year and which the least?
Houston Chronicle via Midland Reporter-Telegram
Texas led the nation as the federal government received more than 21 million requests for background checks to buy rifles, shotguns and handguns last year — continuing a trend of Americans buying plenty of firepower. To some degree, the numbers fall in line with population sizes: Texas led the nation, followed by California and Florida.

Guns.com
Firearms ranges have restrictions. Most are understandable. But, there’s one range rule that can be downright dangerous. Not necessarily at the range, but in real world applications. That rule is against pointing the muzzle in the air during loading and reloading.

Why reload your own ammo? Accuracy
AmmoLand
The past few years have been challenging to acquire ammunition and/or related components for even the most dedicated shooters; the unprecedented demand for ammunition has been matched only by the equally extreme supply shortages. Although availability has improved, the bitterness of scarcity has led many shooters to ponder the concept of loading their own private stock of ammunition.
