Fairfax, Va. – The National Rifle Association announces its support for Senate Joint Resolution 22 and House Joint Resolution 61. The resolutions propose a constitutional amendment to protect the right to hunt, fish and harvest wildlife in the state of Texas.

A gun dealer in Hawkins, Wisconsin says the federal government forced the Heritage Credit Union to close his recently opened bank account because he’s in the business of legally selling guns.
Maine: Anti-Gun Standish Town Measure Defeated
Thanks to the outpouring of opposition from NRA members and other Second Amendment supporters, the Standish Town Council voted last night to table a deeply flawed ordinance that would have prohibited recreational shooting, firearms training and ALL firearms use between official hunting seasons on private property.
Michigan: 2015-2016 Legislative Session Begins with SB 789 Still on Governor Snyder’s Desk
Unfortunately, last session’s Senate Bill 789 still remains unsigned by Governor Rick Snyder (R). Senate Bill 789, which passed the legislature by significant margins and without serious opposition, seeks to create a more efficient and uniform concealed pistol licensing process for all Michiganders.

NRA Files Lawsuits to Protect 2nd Amendment Rights in Pennsylvania
Today the National Rifle Association, on behalf of its 5 million members across the country, filed lawsuits against the cities of Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, and Lancaster for refusing to comply with a state law that prohibits local governments from enacting gun control ordinances.

Washington: Olympia Anti I-594 Rally Tomorrow!
On January 15, at 9:00 am, there will be a legislative rally against I-594 on the front steps of the Washington State Capitol building in Olympia. NRA-ILA Senior State Liaison Brian Judy will be speaking about how to get involved in the growing grassroots effort to reverse I-594 and its negative effects. Following the speakers, attendees will have the opportunity to go inside the Capitol and speak directly with their lawmakers.

Cupp: ‘Educating’ journalists about guns
For years I’ve advocated for the journalists, activists and politicians who argue for more gun control to better acquaint themselves with guns and gun laws. It’s always struck me as pretty appalling that the only requisite for an opinion on limiting gun rights appears to be passion, not knowledge.
