Arkansas: Pro-Gun Legislation Advancing in the Arkansas House

Today, the Arkansas House of Representatives passed House Bill 1488 on a 92 to 0 vote. HB 1488, introduced on February 26 by state Representative Tim Lemons (R-43), would require the chief law enforcement officer of a jurisdiction to certify the transfer or making of a firearm, as required by the National Firearms Act, within 15 days if the person is not prohibited from receiving or possessing a firearm by law.

Massachusetts Court: Police chief within rights to deny gun license

The chief of police in Worcester was within his rights to deny a gun license to a man charged with domestic violence, the state’s highest court ruled Wednesday.In a unanimous ruling, the seven-member Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court also found that the state’s “suitable person” standard used to deny the license is constitutional.

Colorado Senate committee passes bill to repeal ammo magazine limits

A 2013 law that limited ammunition magazines to 15 rounds or less is headed for repeal by the Colorado Senate because, in the words of former Weld County Sheriff John Cooke, the measure is “vague, ambiguous and overbroad.”Cooke in January was sworn in as a state senator, and he and fellow Republican Chris Holbert, a Parker senator, teamed up to sponsor a bill repealing the magazine limits.

A proposal to eliminate Tennessee’s requirement to obtain a state-issued permit to openly carry handguns was defeated in a House subcommittee on Wednesday.

Nevada bill would allow concealed guns without permits

Nevada Republicans are proposing a bill repealing the state’s requirement for a permit to carry a concealed gun.Sen. Don Gustavson, R-Sparks, is leading a group of Republican legislators supporting SB 143, which was reviewed Wednesday in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The bill would allow any person who legally owns a gun to carry it concealed without having a permit.
