Wisconsin: 48-Hour Waiting Period Repeal Bill Passes Senate
Today, Senate Bill 35 was passed by the Wisconsin state Senate on a voice vote. SB 35, authored by state Senator Van Wanggaard (R-21), would repeal Wisconsin’s antiquated 48-hour waiting period for handgun purchases. Senate Bill 35 will now head over to the Assembly.

Minnesota: Progress on Passage of Pro-Gun Measures Continues in St. Paul
Your NRA-ILA is working closely with legislators to keep pro-gun measures moving forward for Minnesotans. Last night in the House Ways and Means Committee, language from House File 1434, suppressor legalization and “shall sign” legislation, was offered as an amendment to House File 849, sponsored by state Representative Tom Hackbarth (R-31B). This amendment was adopted with overwhelming support by a voice vote.

Michigan: Critical Air Gun Reclassification Bill Passes Out of Committee and Heads to House Floor
Today, Senate Bill 85, the central and most important component of the Air Gun Reclassification Package, passed the House Judiciary Committee with an 8-3 vote and will now be sent to the House floor for final passage.

Colorado: Apprentice Hunting Bill Passes Full Senate
Today, Senate Bill 226 passed the full Senate with only two dissenting votes. It will now go to the House for consideration.

Armed clerk fights off masked robber, The Tampa Bay Times, Tampa Bay, Fla. 04/19/15
A masked and armed man entered an ABC Liquor store in Tampa, Fla. and attempted to rob the store. The thief ordered the two clerks on duty to get on the floor, but one responded by retrieving a gun and firing at the criminal. An exchange of gunfire ensued, before the criminal fled the scene. The clerks suffered minor injuries during the incident.

The state House on Friday gave preliminary approval to the licensed open carry of handguns, all but guaranteeing the controversial measure’s passage into law.

Texas House rejects letting state’s four biggest cities opt out of “open carry” of handguns
The Texas House finally approved and sent the Senate Monday a bill allowing the licensed open carry of handguns. The vote, largely along party lines, was 101-42. Seven Democrats, all from South Texas or border regions, voted for the measure.

Guns on university campuses: The Colorado experience
Texas appears poised to join the growing number of states allowing licensed, trained adults to carry concealed handguns for lawful protection on the campuses of public universities and colleges. In Texas, as elsewhere, opponents offer a parade of horribles about the supposed results: heated classroom discussion of Sophocles will result in gunfights; students will threaten to kill professors who gave them a bad grade, and so on. Since Colorado has had licensed guns on campus for over a decade, it may be helpful to look at the experience there.
