Where’s the coverage of heroes who stop mass killings?
Heroic citizens stopping someone from killing a large number of people don’t seem to be considered news worthy. Don’t people want to read about a brave soul risking his life by running towards the sound of gunfire while others run away? Yet, such stories never get national news coverage by the national mainstream media. While accidental gunshots get national coverage, few people have any idea how often concealed handgun permit holders stopping mass killings.

NRA-backed Gun Bill Signed into Law, Protects Gun Owners from Government Gun Grab During a State of Emergency
Today, Minnesota Governor Mark Dayton signed into law a bill backed by the National Rifle Association that will, among other things, protect law-abiding gun owners from having their firearms confiscated or regulated during a state of emergency. Senate File 878 passed both chambers with strong bipartisan support. “This is a huge victory for Minnesota gun owners and sportsmen,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “This law ensures that law-abiding gun owners won’t have their guns confiscated by the government following a declared emergency, as occurred following Hurricane Katrina. Our lives and property are arguably at greatest risk during a state of emergency. This new law says loud and clear ‘keep your hands off our guns.'”

Gun buyer’s race not government’s business
Recently U.S. Senator Mike Enzi, R-Wyo., joined Senator Roy Blunt, R- Mo., in introducing legislation which would prohibit the federal government from requiring Americans to disclose their race or ethnicity in connection with the purchase of a firearm. In 2014, it was reported that the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) implemented a change to Form 4473, requiring firearm purchasers to disclose both their race and ethnicity.

CMP Could Sell Vintage Firearms
As many of you across East Alabama may have seen or heard in the news, the National Defense Authorization Act recently passed the House of Representatives with my strong support. This critical piece of legislation outlines how Congress will support our nation’s military. I was relieved to see that Congress increased the overall authorized funding for our nation’s military.
