Suspect in Dallas Police Department Attack in Stand-off

A suspect in the Dallas police headquarters attack is in a stand-off with police, according to the Dallas Morning News. Police are continuing to negotiate with the man, James Lance Boulware, who was chased by police to Hutchins, Texas. Hutchins is nine miles south of downtown Dallas.

There are no reported injuries among police officers, but Boulware told the police that he has been wounded. The man is upset about losing custody of his son and blames authorities.

The gunman is reported to have a history of domestic violence, said Dallas Police Chief David Brown.

Chief Brown told the Dallas Morning News Boulware said he was going to blow up police because they “took his child and accused him of being a terrorist.”

A police chase involving numerous police cars surrounded the suspect as he traveled southbound on I-45.

Law enforcement officers shut down the highway and people were kept out of the area.

Helicopters were also used to pursue the suspect, who opened fire on the Dallas police department headquarters around 12:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The gunman reportedly stopped negotiations with police around 4 a.m., and around 4.30 a.m., gunfire was heard again near the vehicle.

Officers used a rifle to disable the vehicle, a van with a Georgia license plate. The vehicle was sold off eBay and is equipped with gun ports. The vehicle was described on Facebook as:

Zombie Apocalypse Assault Vehicle and Troop Transport. This full armored zombie busting vehicle features convenient gun ports so no zombie juice touches you during a mass zombie take down. It also has benches in the back so you can take turns resting during long Zombie sieges. The tactical step boards are installed for when you only need swords and axes for drive by mow downs. The bumpers are made of reinforced steel tubing, so no dents from smashing zombie heads! It’s full armor plated and has bullet proof windows just in case you run into other zombie hunting hordes who might try to take this bad boy from you. Like anything, there is a price attached to this fine piece of zombie fighting machinery.

The van was sold for $8,250.

Law enforcement authorities have not confirmed that the man is indeed James Lance Boulware.

In 2013 in Paris, Texas, James Lance Boulware was arrested after he obtained firearms, ammunition, and body armor and was threatening to attack his family, as well as churches and schools. He was taken into custody, but the case against him was dismissed last year after he fulfilled conditions imposed upon him by a court.

Explosives have been found in one of the bags outside of the Jack Evans Police headquarters south of downtown Dallas, located near the Dallas Convention Center. One of the explosives found was a pipe bomb.

As many as four people may have been involved in the attack according to witnesses, although this has not been confirmed.

Residents in the area have been evacuated.
