Five Syrian nationals heading to the U.S. with stolen passports were arrested in Honduras on Wednesday.

The arrests validate concerns that ISIS-linked terrorists could easily slip into the U.S. disguised as migrants.

“The group of Syrian men was held late on Tuesday in the Honduran capital of Tegucigalpa on arrival from Costa Rica and they were planning to head to the border with neighboring Guatemala,” Reuters reported. “The passports had been doctored to replace the photographs with those of the Syrians, police said.”

If the Syrians weren’t arrested in Honduras, they would likely been able to cross the U.S./Mexico border undetected because the Obama administration ordered the Border Patrol to back off enforcing immigration laws, which practically opened the border for anyone – including ISIS – to enter the country with impunity.

“It doesn’t matter whether it’s drugs, bodies, or how large the group is, our agents are being ordered to stand down by Border Patrol management,” Shawn Moran, Vice President of the National Border Patrol Council, told Breitbart in Oct. 2013. “I have received reports from our agents in every single sector from San Diego to the Rio Grande Valley in Texas that they are receiving these orders.”
