GOP Caught Doctoring Voter Rolls… Look Who They Want to Get Rid Of
A shocking new report out of Ohio revealed that the GOP has tried to illegally purge voters from the rolls if they haven’t voted in three consecutive elections, possibly in an attempt to thwart Donald Trump’s election.
According to MSNBC, the purge mostly affected minority voters, a group with which Trump has done rather well. Over 40,000 voters were purged alone in Cuyahoga County, where Cleveland is located.
Ohio, a winner-take-all state, went to Ohio’s governor, John Kasich, earlier this spring.
“We have spoken to purged voters from around the state of Ohio who tried to vote in the November 2015 local election and were turned away,” Freda Levenson, legal director for the ACLU of Ohio, said in a statement.
“The already widespread disenfranchisement that has resulted from this process is likely to be much worse in a presidential election year,” she added.
The ACLU is one of the parties to a lawsuit that would seek to have the voters reinstated. Ohio’s Secretary of State, John Husted, said that the suit was politically motivated.
“Ohio manages its voter rolls in direct compliance of both federal and state laws, and is consistent with an agreement in this same federal court just four years ago,” Husted said in a Wednesday statement. “This lawsuit is politically motivated, election-year politics, is a waste of taxpayer dollars and opens the door for voter fraud in Ohio.”
It’s become clear that the GOP establishment will do anything to prevent Donald Trump from claiming the nomination. They’re surprised that African-Americans and disenfranchised voters who haven’t cast a ballot in years have come out so heavily in support of him.
It wouldn’t surprise me — or any of Trump’s supporters — if this were just another plan to make sure Trump doesn’t win the nomination. It’s time to stop the GOP elites.
