Conservatives Make Move Against Obama’s IRS Commissioner
Members of the conservative House Freedom Caucus called Thursday for the impeachment of Internal Revenue Service chief John Koskinen.
Republicans have criticized Koskinen for his role in allowing the agency to target conservative groups, including delaying their applications for non-profit tax status and generally obstructing conservative grassroots activities.
Although Koskinen was not the IRS commissioner when the alleged targeting took place, he obstructed efforts to clean up the mess once he took office in December 2013.
Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan, along with Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis, Georgia Rep. Jody Hice, and Colorado Rep. Doug Lamborn filed an official order for impeachment against Koskinen in hopes of replacing him with someone that wouldn’t obstruct Congress from finally obtaining the last remaining documents in the targeting scandal.

Jordan and his allies made speeches about the needed impeachment on the House floor Thursday evening, according to Breitbart.
“When you have individuals running an agency with the power of the Internal Revenue Service doing what was done under Commissioner Koskinen’s watch, he in fact should be impeached,” Jordan said.
Lois Lerner, former director of the IRS Exempt Organization Unit, was accused in 2013 of overseeing an elaborate system of harassment aimed conservative groups primarily during President Barack Obama’s re-election campaign in 2012.
Koskinen took over the IRS with instructions to clean up the mess after Lerner was held in contempt of Congress by a full vote of the U.S. House of Representatives.
The chief, however, refused to hand over the final documents that could show who in the White House knew about the unlawful targeting.
Jordan explained to his colleagues exactly why Koskinen should be removed from his post.
“(T)hree preservation orders, two subpoenas in place, and the commissioner, under his watch, 422 back-up tapes are destroyed containing 24,000 emails,” he said. “And what’s Mr. Koskinen do when he learns about problems with these tapes and problems with Ms. Lerner’s hard drive? He waits four months before he tells Congress.”

Jordan called impeaching the IRS chief one of the things “the American people sent us here to do.”
It certainly is. The IRS scandal has been going on long enough, and it’s past time to finally hold someone accountable for the despicable treatment of conservative groups.
