Hilarious Writer Rips Liberal Narrative, Reveals Top 5 Myths on Climate Change
With President-elect Donald Trump’s nomination of Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt to head up the Environmental Protection Agency for the incoming Trump administration, radical environmentalists and devotees of “man-made climate change” have begun losing their minds.
Pruitt, who makes no bones about his skepticism toward the left’s claims about climate change, has been smeared with the derisive and dismissive “denier” tag by those who adhere to the climate change philosophy.
But Pruitt and others have good reason to be skeptical of the left’s claims, which have largely been based on a set of myths that have somehow been embraced unquestioningly by many liberals but were just hilariously debunked by conservative commentator/comic Steven Crowder.
Crowder began by taking on the “climate science denier” label tossed around by the left, pointing out that to be considered a “denier” and thus shunned by society, or even jailed for one’s opinion, one must be skeptical of any of four things: that the earth is warming, that humans are the cause of that warming, that the results of said warming will be catastrophic, and that only the U.S. government or an international body can fix it, with taxpayer dollars, of course.
With that out of the way, Crowder proceeded to debunk the top five myths that have gained wide acceptance even as they are provably wrong.
Myth #1: A consensus of 97 percent of scientists agrees on man-made climate change.
Aside from the fact that “consensus” is not how science is settled — there was at one point consensus that the earth was flat — Crowder revealed that the “97 percent” figure came from a small study in 2009 that asked only two questions of a group of scientists, only a handful of whom even responded. Of those, only a small percentage were actually climate scientists.
In the end, the 97 percent figure came from around 70 climate scientists agreeing that the earth had warmed marginally over the past two centuries and that human activity may have played a role in that warming. That’s it.
Myth #2: The ice sheets are melting.
There have been all sorts of breathless and worried predictions over the years about the ice sheets at both the north and south poles melting and shrinking. However, actual science and observation have revealed just the opposite, as both the Arctic ice cap and Antarctic ice shelf have actually grown thicker and cover more area than before.
It turns out that the myth of the ice sheets melting comes from the fact that the net gain of the ice caps was not growing as much as previously, though they were and are still growing.
Myth #3: The polar bears are dying.
There are actually more polar bears alive now than at any point since their population began to be monitored back in the 1960s. There isn’t much else to be said about that.
Myth #4: Current climate models are accurate.
Much of the climate change “science” is based on decades-old models that have not held up over time when compared with actual scientific readings of the environment or temperature or atmosphere. In fact, there is something of a 15-year “pause” in the rate of temperature increase that has simply been dismissed by the true believers in climate change.
We have even seen evidence that some groups and agencies “fudge” their numbers in order to better match the inaccurate models.
Some of the predictions based on those inaccurate models include: No more snow on Mt. Kilimanjaro (it still has an icecap year-round); the extinction of polar bears (see above); no more ice at North or South Poles (again, see above); and weather becoming significantly worse than it previously has been, which hasn’t happened.
Myth #5: Government is the only solution for climate change.
We are well aware of the government’s track record of dubious success in handling virtually every other government-run program in the history of government-run programs, but of course climate change believers are certain that just a few more laws and regulations and higher tax rates will immediately reduce temperatures and lower the rising tides.
Obviously, Crowder went into depth on each item, and then some, and we encourage everyone to take the time to watch his hilarious breakdown of these pervasive myths.
This right here is truth that liberals will hate, so by all means share this far and wide, as truth is the best antidote to the insanity of progressives, especially those who have bought in fully to the idea of “man-made climate change.”
