Obama Pushes to Dismantle, Sabotage American Security Program Before Leaving Office

In one final push before the end of his presidency, President Barack Obama is dismantling a program that has let U.S intelligence track potential terrorists within the country.

According to TheBlaze, the Obama administration has done away with the National Security Entry-Exit Registration Systems [NSEERS]. Under the NSEERS program, U.S intelligence was able to track Muslim men from 25 countries named by Homeland Security as high terror threats.

The program was established in September 2002 to combat terrorists during the early stages of the War on Terror. It was effectively used up until 2011, when the Obama administration decided it was no longer necessary.

And just one month before the end of his presidency, President Obama is dismantling the program, effective immediately.

Neema Hakim, a spokesman for the Department of Homeland Security said that the program is no longer necessary, The New York Times reported.

“DHS ceased use of NSEERS more than five years ago, after it was determined the program was redundant, inefficient and provided no increase in security,” Hakim said, before calling it “obsolete” and “outdated.”

However, with the potential for more terror attacks on U.S. soil increasing every year, Obama is dismantling a key weapon in tracking potential terrorists. That is, unless President-elect Donald Trump steps in to change President Obama’s decision.

And many think he will.

In fact, New York’s attorney general, Eric Schneiderman wrote a letter to Obama, urging him to end the NSEERS program simply because of the impending Trump presidency.

“We can’t risk giving President-elect Trump the tools to create an unconstitutional religious registry,” he said.

The ridiculous statement only fuels those who believe that Trump will ban all Muslims from entering the U.S.

Trump spokesman Jason Miller told CNN that the President-elect has no plans to ban anyone based on their religion, but also will work to ensure the safety of the country.

“President-elect Trump has never advocated for any registry or system that tracks individuals based on their religion, and to imply otherwise is completely false,” Miller said. “The national registry of foreign visitors from countries with high terrorism activity that was in place during the Bush and Obama administrations gave intelligence and law enforcement communities additional tools to keep our country safe, but the President-elect plans on releasing his own vetting policies after he is sworn in.”
