The Outraged Left Responds to Milo’s Book Deal With Rampant Virtue-Signaling
“In these times we can not let hatemongers get rich off of their cruelty.”
by Mark Tapson
Brace yourselves for a torrent of leftist virtue-signaling under the pretense of standing up to “hate speech” from gay conservative firebrand Milo Yiannopoulos, who recently sent shock waves of horror through the left by announcing that Simon & Schuster gave him a huge advance for his forthcoming book Dangerous.
After reports that Milo would be receiving a $250,000 advance, the left lost what little is left of its collective mind. Funny, they didn’t seem to have a problem, nor did conservatives, when talentless manatee Lena Dunham received a $3.7 million advance from Random House for her book, in which she confessed to sexually molesting her younger sister. No one (except perhaps Dunham herself, privately) complained when unfunny activist/actress Amy Schumer received more than twice that for her book. But let a controversial conservative get a fraction as much money as a hateful leftist and the left leaps not only to shut down the author, but to punish the publisher as well.
Actress Leslie Jones, best-known as one of the four co-stars of the Ghostbusters reboot travesty, and the target of an online blitzkrieg from Milo that got him banned from Twitter, tried to shame Simon & Schuster with a tweet claiming that they are helping Milo spread his hate far and wide, despite the fact that they had previously (and unnecessarily) issued a statement in defense of the book deal and of free speech:
The Chicago Review of Books, which no one cares about except the staff of the Chicago Review of Books and authors who beg to be liked by the staff of the Chicago Review of Books, led the virtue-signaling by tweeting that, in response to S&S’s “validation of hate,” they would not review any books from Milo’s publisher in 2017:
Certainly the esteemed Chicago Review of Books has the right to review any book they like, but hey, nothing says anti-fascism like politically punishing a publisher for releasing a book with which you don’t agree.
For some reason a bookshop in Dublin, Ireland called Raven Books felt compelled to weigh in on Twitter, proudly declaring itself the enemy of free speech:
Repugnant comedienne Sarah Silverman (quelle surprise) and director Judd Apatow are trying to rev up a movement to repress Milo’s “hate speech” (hate speech, remember, is an invented accusation of the left with which to bludgeon into silence anyone with whom they disagree):
None of these whiners seem to understand what Milo understands, which is that all this pearl-clutching outrage from the hypocritical, totalitarian, New Victorian left is fueling Milo’s fame and fortune and is delighting conservatives everywhere who are fed up with smug celebrity lectures.
