“Sasquatch” Interrupts Live Weather Broadcast

On Thursday in Springfield, Massachusetts, a weather broadcast was interrupted by a bizarre creature lurking in the background. This prank is now going viral.

Meteorologist Jennifer Pagliei was reporting live from a snowstorm that had overtaken the area known locally in Springfield as “The X,” when cameras caught a mysterious creature approaching from behind. It was moving in a slow, controlled manner and Pagliei was completely unaware of the bizarre figure that wanted to get its 15 minutes of fame.

Before the Pagliei’s segment began, the news co-anchor had jokingly mentioned reports of earlier Sasquatch sightings in the area at which point she introduced Pagliei saying, “Hopefully, he won’t bother her.”

Well it seems that the sightings were confirmed when the creature appeared on screen just seconds later. Talk about a major coincidence. It turns out that the “Sasquatch” was a person in a costume that was actually covered with marijuana leaves. According to reports, Massachusetts voted to legalize recreational marijuana for adults over the age of 21 back in November. The law went into effect on December 14.

The marijuana “Sasquatch” did not stop Pagliei from continuing her broadcast, though a small chuckle could be heard as she finally saw the creature when she stepped out of camera frame to show the weather conditions.

Both she and her cameraman acted like complete professionals even while being pranked.

This is one of those moments where you do a double-take, then ask yourself, “Did I really just see Sasquatch? And why is he covered in marijuana?” Then you’ll probably laugh because you’re having a conversation with yourself. Sasquatch strikes again!
