Trump: US better off if Obama, Bush had ‘gone to the beach’
By
President Trump ripped President George W. Bush and President Obama for poor leadership overseas and ignoring problems at home, and said America would be better off if both leaders had done nothing.
“If our presidents had gone to the beach for 15 years, we’d be in a lot better shape than we are right now,” Trump told the Conservative Political Action Conference on Friday. “We could have rebuilt the country three times for that money,” he added, referring to the $6 trillion spent in the Middle East since 2000.
Trump said his goal is to focus on investing in the United States and American citizens before looking abroad. He said that’s what the future of the conservative movement will be.
“I’m here today to tell you what this movement means for the future of the Republican Party and the future of America,” Trump said. “First, we need to define what this great, great unprecedented movement is and what it represents. The core conviction of our movement is that we have put, and will put, its own citizens first.”
