This Guy Tried To Rob A 7/11 But Was Confronted By A Female Clerk With A Gun. It Didn’t End Well For Him.

A man attempted to rob a convenience store on Monday, but he encountered something he was not expecting: a clerk armed with a gun. It didn’t end well for the would-be robber.
The suspect, who has been identified as 30-year-old Derrell Mayes, approached the clerk, an unidentified 35-year-old female who was taking a smoking break outside of a St. Louis 7/11 at 3:50 in the morning on Monday. Mayes tried to rob the clerk with his firearm, but the clerk brandished hers in response.
The two fired at each other – with a total of 9 to 10 shots fired – and both were hit.
Mayes was fatally struck in his chest as well as his thigh and arm. The woman was struck twice in her leg and is believed to be in stable condition.
Davon Dodson was working with the female clerk that night – his first night on the job – and promptly resigned from his position following the shooting to avoid being placed in a similar situation in the future. But he was glad that the clerk defended herself against Mayes.
“I was glad she protected herself,” Dodson told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch. “We’re calling her a she-ro.”
The “she-ro” was described by the Post-Dispatch‘s as a pleasant, diligent mother. Mayes, on the other hand, has a history of criminality, which included “burglary, assault and gun charges.”
Had the female clerk not been armed, the ending could have been a lot more dire for her and for the store, This is yet another story highlighting the importance of the Second Amendment and self-defense.
