Anti-Cop Black Panthers Chairman Ambushed Dallas Officers Responding to Shooting

This is becoming more and more common post-Black Lives Matter.

A black nationalist (on the left in above photo) and National Minister of Defense of the New Black Panthers has committed suicide after firing on local authorities

On Monday, Derick Lamont Brown, 36, opened fire on officers responding to a shooting call at his residence in Dallas. A fire department medic, William An, was critically injured but officers risked personal safety as they rescued and rushed him to the hospital where he remains in stable condition. An officer returned fire, striking Brown and caused him to retreat back inside his house where he mortally wounded himself.

Police used a robot to enter Brown’s home to find his body and learned he had shot and killed his roommate and discovered his plan to call police to his home and ambush them.

But there is more about Brown’s past that is coming to light and it’s quite fitting in this post-Obama, post-Black Lives Matter era. The Dallas Observer learned that Brown was the chairman of the New Black Panthers in the early 2000s. The Anti-Defamation League was on to Brown by 2004 when he led a protest at the Dallas Police Department claiming his group was “ready to die in self-defense.”

Brown’s friend and fellow black nationalist, Babu Omowale (on right in photo above), said Brown was the gunsmith for a gun club he founded, the Huey P. Newton Gun Club, named after the founder of the Black Panther Party. Omowale praised Brown:

“He put some of our weapons together and if we needed extra supplies or if we needed anything added to our weapons, he was the person who made that happen for us.

“Most Panthers and most gun club members are experienced, but at that close range that was used yesterday, even a common citizen with not a lot of experience can be accurate.”

He then lamented Brown’s death on Facebook:

The Observer also noted Brown’s extensive criminal history:

In the years leading up to Monday’s shooting, Brown pleaded guilty to gun charges related to carrying a concealed weapon without a permit, resisting arrest, driving with a suspended license, possession of a controlled substance and DWI.

Brown also fathered 18 children and had just become a grandfather.

Omowale said his “comrade… seemed OK” the last time they spoke and added, “We’re not sure what led to the incident that transpired yesterday.”

Yeah, it’s such a mystery.
