Calif Dems Demand Free Health Care, State Party Leader Tells Them To ‘Shut the F*ck Up!’

“Shut the f*ck up or go outside,” Burton yelled into a microphone at the convention center. “That’s really very controversial. I mean, let’s disrupt something for health care for all. I mean, that’s really a good f*cking way to get something done,” said Burton, 84.

The feisty Burton slapped at the pack of young protesters, saying “there’s some people who have been fighting for that issue before you guys were born. You ought to get on with it.”

And when the protesters calling for free health care kept waving signs and  chanting “Hey hey, ho ho, corporate Dems have got to go,” Burton said: “Put your f*cking sign down, man, we’re all for it,” he said. “Jesus Christ.”

Tom Perez, chairman of the National Democratic Committee, also attended the California Democratic Convention, where he tried to calm things down by telling folksy family stories. But he did so in his normal fashion — shouting at the top of his lungs (perhaps, this time, to drown out the chants).

Perez said the rowdy atmosphere is just like every holiday dinner with his extended family. “We have a raucous Thanksgiving dinner. We talk about politics. I’m Dominican. So we talk about the other thing, which is baseball,” Perez said. “And then at the end of the day, we get together and talk about our shared values.”

And, of course, most of his speech was spent bashing President Trump and repeating unsubstantiated reports that Trump tapped Russian President Vladimir Putin’s help to steal the 2016 election.

“Here’s one big thing we agree on. Donald Trump is an anathema to our values. Donald Trump is the most dangerous president in American history,” said Perez, who served as Labor secretary in the Obama administration. “Donald Trump has to go. And that is why we must work together as Democrats.”

But a nurses union made clear that they want quick action on single-payer health care and plan to be fierce on the issue, the Sacramento Bee reported.

The leader of the nurses’ union that opposed Perez’s recent election had just warned California Democrats that they would put up primary election challengers against lawmakers if they don’t support a bill to create public-funded, universal healthcare.

“They cannot be in denial anymore that this is a movement that can primary them,” RoseAnn DeMoro, executive director of the California Nurses Association, told hundreds of nurses and health care advocates gathered for a rally at the Capitol.

“Vote them out,” the crowd chanted back, referring to Democrats in the Legislature wavering on whether to support their cause.

Top party leaders have been aching since Hillary Clinton’s humiliating loss to Trump in November, and their anger has often manifested in profanity — this piece pulls a bunch together.

So it’s not surprising that Burton had one last thing to say in his speech before he was replaced as state chairman: He thrust two middle fingers in the air as the crowd cheered and yelled “F*ck Trump!”
