BLOODY MESS: CNN Severs Ties With Kathy Griffin Over ‘Trump Beheading’

After a 24-hour firestorm over her gruesome “art” piece featuring a mock-up of Donald Trump’s bloody, severed head, CNN announced on Wednesday that it has officially “terminated” its relationship with comedienne and former co-host Kathy Griffin.

“CNN has terminated our agreement with Kathy Griffin to appear on our New Year’s Eve program,” announced CNN Communications via Twitter Wednesday.

Griffin’s decapitated Trump stunt clearly did not get the response from the Left she anticipated. Despite initially defending her “expression of art,” after her colleagues condemned her actions — including fellow CNN New Year’s Eve co-host Anderson Cooper, who slammed the “clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate” image — Griffin posted a contrite video apology Tuesday afternoon in which she admitted she “went too far”:

The situation grew even more untenable for Griffin when President Trump tweeted a response Wednesday morning citing his 11-year-old son “having a hard time” with the “sick” stunt. The tweet was followed by a report by TMZ about young Barron Trump having seen the image on television and “panicked and screamed,” believing his father had been murdered.

Barron Trump was watching television Tuesday at home with Melania when Kathy Griffin’s photo appeared on the screen, and his initial reaction was that something terrible happened to his father.

Trump family sources tell us Barron was in front of the TV watching a show when the news came on and he saw the bloody, beheaded image. We’re told he panicked and screamed, “Mommy, Mommy!”

As it was put to us, “He’s 11. He doesn’t know who Kathy Griffin is and the head she was holding resembled his dad.”

Melania Trump also weighed in on the “disturbing” image on Wednesday, saying, “When you consider some of the atrocities happening in the world today, a photo opportunity like this is simply wrong and makes you wonder about the mental health of the person who did it.”
