WaPo Writer Hopes Scalise Will Die From His Wounds
A number of leftists, including prominent figures who work in the liberal media, responded to the early Wednesday morning attack on congressional Republicans at a baseball practice session in Virginia in a way unworthy of any civilized society,
One in particular, millennial writer Malcolm Harris, issued tweets that “suggested the shooting of conservative Republicans could be justified,” as LifeZette put it. He compared the wounded House Majority Whip Steve Scalise of Louisiana to former KKK imperial wizard David Duke, and appeared to indicate that he hoped Scalise would die.
“Hearing ‘David Duke without the baggage’ Steve Scalise is stable, but a lot of Americans dies (sic) from hospital errors so keep crossing your fing (sic),” Harris wrote in one especially vile tweet that has since been deleted
The others remain online, suggesting he feels zero remorse over his crude, cruel remarks:

It would be bad enough if Harris were just some random schmuck living in his mother’s basement, but he’s a recognized author whose work has appeared in the Village Voice, The New York Times Magazine, the New Republic and The Washington Post, where he only recently published a column that still remained online as of Thursday morning.
The fact that nobody on the left seems to be even slightly fazed by the rhetoric of Harris and many others, including Hollywood actors, raises an important question, as asked by Michelle Malkin.
“Are there any decent Democrats or left-wingers in the public square willing to acknowledge the existence of their own climate of hate … ?” she asked. “Do words and rhetoric only have consequences if they can be used against conservatives and Republicans?”

The tragic answer to Malkin’s first question is a resounding no. The left doesn’t care. It’s already too busy deflecting responsibility by blaming Wednesday’s attack on Virginia’s allegedly lax gun control policies, and this despite the state actually maintaining fairly stringent gun restrictions.
What does this mean for the rest of us? As was pointed out by Townhall contributor John Hawkins, it means that the political violence that occurred Wednesday is likely “doomed to grow ever more common and bloodier,” not that anyone in the liberal media or the Democrat Party genuinely gives a damn.
