Newt Gingrich Responds to Joe Scarborough’s Insult
It is undeniable that former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich is one of the staunchest supporters of President Donald Trump, and has been since the primary season of the 2016 election.
Most recently, Gingrich has taken to defending Trump against probable “mission creep” spinoff investigations by Special Counsel Robert Mueller stemming from the non-existent Russian collusion probe.
As such, Gingrich has increasingly found himself a target of attacks and smears by the media that seem to imply he is only now getting on the Trump train and “selling his soul” in order to secure an ambassadorship for his wife, Callista, a spurious charge most notably put forward by MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough last week, according to The Daily Caller.
But in an interview with Fox News host Judge Jeanine Pirro on Saturday, Gingrich fired back at Scarborough by calling him a “prostitute” who would actually consider doing such a thing, according to a separate report from The Daily Caller. You can watch the entire interview right here, with the relevant portion beginning shortly after the 7:00 minute mark.
Now we know to the degree of which Joe (Scarborough) is a prostitute, that apparently he would do that,” stated Gingrich with a smirk.
“My record of being for Trump is clear. It’s unending. I just wrote a book, ‘Understanding Trump,’” the former speaker continued. “I am deeply committed to this presidency because I think we need to shake up Washington.”
Gingrich proceeded to note the similarities between the message of his own failed 2012 presidential campaign and that of Trump as the primary reason he has been so supportive of the president’s efforts at upending and reforming D.C., not any potential favors he or his wife might receive in return.
“I would challenge Joe Scarborough, who knows me pretty darn well, to be honest about this,” Gingrich stated flatly.
Scarborough stooped to a low level in implying that Gingrich had “sold his soul” in supporting Trump just so he could obtain the ambassadorship to the Vatican for his wife, as if that were the only reason the former speaker could have for questioning the integrity ofMueller’s apparently wide-ranging investigation into the Trump administration.
But Gingrich isn’t new to the games played by the hit-job media, and is perfectly capable of dishing out his own servings of snarky truth to counter the attacks launched against him.
As Gingrich implied, it is Scarborough who revealed his own willingness to sell his support in order to secure a job by even bringing the topic up in the first place. It really just reeks of jealousy and regret, since the “Morning Joe” crew did an about-face during the election — from being friendly toward Trump during the primaries to being his most harshest critics as the general election approached.
Gingrich didn’t have to sell out, because he never changed sides in the first place.
