Cop Shows Up After Little Girl Asks Him to Search House for “Monsters”

In the course of their duties, police officers take some very real monsters off of the street. In one Colorado town last week, a police officer went even further.

Longmont Officer David Bonday made headlines after he agreed to come over to a little girl’s house to help her search for the monsters she feared were hiding around her new home.

According to KDVR-TV, Megan Fahrenbruch said her 4-year-old daughter, Sidney, had never been scared of imaginary monsters until they moved into their new place. Now, the young girl was afraid that chimerical beasts would come out and hurt her family at night.

“Well, cause I heard sounds when people weren’t up,” Sidney explained to KDVR.

During a July community event, Sidney approached Officer Bonday with a request: “She met Officer Bonday and asked him if he would come search for monsters in our house,” Megan Fahrenbruch said. And, in a move that demonstrates perfectly how cops help their community, Officer Bonday agreed.

“Sidney’s been to our police department before to bring us food and things like that, and I thought it would be a great thing to do to give a little back to her,” Bonday told KMGH-TV.

“She just checked under the couch, but he wanted to make sure there weren’t any under the couch cushions,” Megan Fahrenbruch said.

“And then they ended up going in the front yard to make sure there was no monster activity in the front yard.”

The hunt was caught on video and ended up going viral:

While no monsters were discovered in the course of the police search, Sidney ended up finding something a lot more important.

“It’s just amazing the confidence he’s given her,” Megan Fahrenbruch told KDVR. “We’re truly grateful to live in a town where the police officer will pay a kid any attention.”

Sidney herself wants to be a police officer when she grows up, and one can imagine what Officer Bonday did only strengthens that resolve.

“They understand that they can have a good trust of the police and that we’re here even for the monsters, even if it’s just something like monsters in the house,” Officer Bonday told KMGH.

Agreed. Our hats are off to him for making Juniper Street in Longmont, Colorado, safe from the monsters that lurk in the night.
