As America moves closer to primary season for the 2018 mid-terms, pro-Trump conservatives are stepping up to challenge the “Never Trump” establishment for failing to support his agenda. One such man is Nevada Republican Danny Tarkanian, who has vowed to unseat Sen. Dean Heller (R-Nev.) and inject some much needed MAGA spirit into the senate.
As noted by The Hill, Heller has an uphill battle to retain his seat in 2018 for having a less-than-stellar relationship with President Trump.
Speaking with Fox News, Tarkanian said that people in Nevada have given him a mandate to challenge Heller over his “Never Trump” agenda.
“I have so many people that are contacting me over the past couple months saying ‘you gotta run against Dean Heller,'” Tarkanian said. “They understand, as I do, that we’re never going to make America great again unless we have senators in office that fully support President Trump and his America first agenda.”
He also castigated Heller as “one of the first Never-Trumpers in Nevada” that never laid down his arms. “Now, even after President Trump’s been elected, Dean Heller has obstructed his agenda,” Tarkanian said.
Though Tarkanian came close to winning the 2016 race for Nevada’s 3rd congressional district against now-Rep. Jacky Rosen (D-Nev.), his bids for both House and Senate (in 2010) have yet to prove successful.
