Life & Death – Carbon Tax Fraud

How much does a funeral cost these days? What should I think of when it comes to “final expenses?”

The cost of a funeral can start from $5,000 for a very basic one, on average a funeral cost can be $15,000 and higher. It all depends on the wishes of the individual and family. Funeral costs may vary across the country.

From transportation, services, funeral arrangements, a cemetery property, to caskets, stones, etc. the cost can fluctuate substantially and should be taken into consideration. During such a difficult time, having these expenses covered could lessen the burden on family members. There may also be estate, financial and administrative matters that will need to be looked after. Having all paperwork in order and copies provided to whomever will be responsible will help them.

Trial of carbon tax ‘fraud of the century’ opens in Paris

Between 2008 and 2009, 1.6 billion euros were swindled in a huge carbon quota market scam dubbed the “fraud of the century”. On Monday, 36 people suspected of running the scheme’s largest operation went on trial in Paris.

At the head of the Marseille-based gang appearing before the judges this week is Christiane Melgrani, a former maths teacher who once managed a piano bar. The outspoken 59-year-old, known as “La Marseillaise”, had previously been sentenced for drug trafficking and sales tax fraud in telephone businesses.

The carbon-tax system isn’t a tax grab. It’s an economic bulldozer

We all know the great eco-fiscal rationale for Canada’s national carbon tax. By putting a tax on carbon emissions, Ottawa is said to be deploying the most effective driver of human behaviour known to economic science: the price system. High price equals lower demand for gasoline and other fossil fuels, and therefore lower carbon emissions that cause global warming. As the self-appointed Ottawa-based NGO known as the EcoFiscal Commission says, imposing a carbon price/tax is way more practical, simple and cost-effective than, say, heavy-handed, complicated and cost-ineffective regulation.

Third-party activist groups getting money from Summer Jobs grants

The Trudeau Liberals are using taxpayer dollars to fund political groups that use foreign funding to advance a leftist agenda in Canada. These controversial and divisive activist groups have received money from the federal government through the Canada Summer Jobs grant, the Sun has learned.

LeadNow is currently running a negative advertisement campaign against Ontario PC Leader Doug Ford. The Ontario branch of LeadNow is a registered third-party advertiser in the provincial campaign, and yet, it’s also receiving funding from the Trudeau government.

Trumps Auto Tariffs

Auto tariffs could cost Canada 160,000 jobs, TD estimates
Tariffs on cars and car parts could push loonie to 64 cents US by end of next year, too

Donald Trump’s threat to slap tariffs on Canadian cars and car parts could cost the country up to 160,000 jobs, especially if Canada retaliates, TD Bank warns.

In a report Monday, senior economist Brian DePratto crunched some numbers on the economic impact of a 10 per cent tariff on car parts, and a stiffer 25 per cent levy on fully assembled vehicles.
