Nadler Lashes Out at Trump After White House Counsel Tells House Judiciary Committee to Pound Sand
Threatens Large Fines
Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) lashed out at President Trump Wednesday after White House Counsel Pat Cipollone told the House Judiciary Committee to pound sand.
“This is the White House saying that the Justice Department said they can’t hold the president accountable because you can’t indict a president and now they’re saying neither can Congress. So the president is totally unaccountable and above the law. No president, no person in the United States is above the law. This is preposterous” said Nadler.
“We are not ending the investigation,” Nadler added. “This is the White House claiming that the president is a king.”
“Jerry Nadler told me that they may impose ‘very large fines’ on individuals found to be in contempt of Congress,” CNN’s Manu Raju said.

Earlier Wednesday White House Counsel Pat Cipollone told House Judiciary Chairman Jerry Nadler that the White House will not comply with his Committee’s requests, calling the investigations an ‘unauthorized do-over’ of Mueller’s probe.
In March, the House Judiciary Committee launched a massive investigation into Trump officials and over 80 subpoena’s went flying.
The White House on Wednesday told Nadler to “discontinue” his panel’s inquiry into President Trump.
