China killing prisoners and harvesting their organs for transplants

By Rachel O’Donoghue

CHINA has been forcibly removing prisoners’ organs and harvesting them, a tribunal has ruled.

The independent body sitting in London said the Communist superpower had killed detainees and surgically removed organs for transplants.

The China tribunal – chaired by Sir Geoffrey Nice QC – unanimously decided there was enough evidence to conclude the horrendous practice was going on there, with victims including followers of the Falun Gong movement.

The Chinese spiritual religious practice is banned and those who adhere to its teachings have been locked up and tortured by the state.

Presenting his findings, Sir Geoffrey said they are “certain that Falun Gong as a source – probably the principal source – of organs for forced organ harvesting”.

He continued: “The conclusion shows that very many people have died indescribably hideous deaths for no reason, that more may suffer in similar ways and that all of us live on a planet where extreme wickedness may be found in the power of those, for the time being, running a country with one of the oldest civilisations known to modern man.”

“There is no evidence of the practice having been stopped and the tribunal is satisfied that it is continuing.”

China previously claimed it stopped organ harvesting from detainees in 2014.

Already, the government has dismissed the tribunal’s findings – despite the wealth of testimony that it stills goes on.

It has said the country follows international medical standards that mean transplants must be carried out with patient consent.

Evidence was presented to the tribunals from numerous sources, including medical experts, human rights activists and those investigating the practice.

One of the key pieces of evidence that was noted was how incredibly low the waiting time for transplants is in Chinese hospitals.

It was even noted some people have waited for as little as two weeks for an organ.

It is thought as many as 90,000 organ transplants are carried out in China every year.

Falun Gong activist Jennifer Zeng, who spent a year in a labour camp, said in evidence: “Inmates of the labour camp were not allowed to exchange contact details, so there was no way to trace each other after we were released. When anyone disappeared from the camp, I would assume that she was released and had gone home.

“But in reality that cannot be confirmed, as I had no way to trace others after my release and I now fear they might have been taken to a hospital and had their organs removed without consent and thus killed in the process.”
