About 30% of Obama’s followers — or 5.7 million — were labeled as fake by the analysis, while nearly 40% were found to be inactive.
Mitt Romney’s Twitter account, meanwhile, has less than 900,000 followers according to the analysis, but only 15% of them, or about 135,000, are considered fakes and 31%, or about 270,000, are seen as inactive.
The Divided United States of America
The United States are not so united. A growing body of research points to a deep disunity between Democrats and Republicans in policy preferences, values, and tolerance of the other side’s views. As early as 2010, social scientists conducted surveys that revealed that nearly half of all Republicans would be “somewhat or very unhappy” if their child married a Democrat and nearly one-third of surveyed Democrats had a similar response. These results represented an approximately 1,000 percent increase from the level of people reporting this view in the 1960s. It seems that Americans feel more politically divided today than at any other time in recent history.
Like the American public, Congress is also deeply divided. Lack of trust in the other party as well as a lack of bonds between representatives have fueled greater partisanship. In order to reunite voters and representatives across party lines, legislators must pursue policies that appeal to the interests of both sides.
Trudeau is a disgrace
The photo, the fallout and the folly of Trudeau’s brownface disgrace
The story broke when Time magazine published a yearbook photo of Trudeau from his days as a teacher at West Point Grey Academy in Vancouver, B.C. in which he has brownface makeup on his face, arms and hands, which are clutched around a young woman who Trudeau described as “a friend.” During a hastily-arranged scrum on his campaign plane Trudeau also admitted to wearing blackface and singing Day-O at a highschool talent show.
Earlier this month, TIME obtained a copy of the yearbook, The View, with the photograph of Trudeau in brownface from Vancouver businessman Michael Adamson, who was part of the West Point Grey Academy community. Adamson was not at the party, which was attended by school faculty, administrators and parents of students. He said that he first saw the photograph in July and felt it should be made public. (Time)
