2021 Gun Sales Reach 22.2 Million: Here’s the Top State
U.S. gun sales in the first six months of 2021 surged 15% to 22,243,220 from the same six months last year. This makes it the largest first half of the year figure since sales were first recorded in 1998.
The increase is part of a trend. Sales of guns in the United States rose 40% last year to 39,695,315. That represents the high water mark in annual gun sales since the current record-keeping system went into effect. Increases by state in June and for the first six months varied substantially, as has been the case for years.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation tracks gun sales and publishes a list of how many are handled as part of its National Instant Criminal Background Check System. Each month, the figures are reported by state. Nearly everyone put through this system qualifies as a buyer. People who are excluded usually have criminal records.
Women Are Nearly Half of New Gun Buyers, Study Finds
Close to half of all new U.S. gun buyers since the beginning of 2019 have been women, a shift for a market long dominated by men, according to a new study.
The preliminary results from the 2021 National Firearms Survey, designed by Deborah Azrael of the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health and Matthew Miller of Northeastern University, show an estimated 3.5 million women became new gun owners from January 2019 through April of this year. About 4 million men became new gun owners over that period, they found.
For decades, other surveys have found that around 10% to 20% of American gun owners were women.

Hillary Clinton endorses her “friend” Justin Trudeau ahead of election
2016 Democratic Nominee Hillary Clinton just shared some kind words about Trudeau on Twitter, calling the politician not only her “friend,” but the best person to run the country.
I have seen my friend @JustinTrudeau show leadership in the fight for accessible child care, protected reproductive rights, and ambitious climate action.
I’m wishing him and our progressive Canadian neighbors the best in Monday’s election.

Woke NFL Will Play ‘Black National Anthem’ During 2021 Season, Including at Super Bowl
Not content with a steep ratings decline for the partisan political charade that was the 2020 season, the NFL will double down on “wokeness” and intends to play the so-called black national anthem this coming season, per a report.
Front Office Sports reported Wednesday that social justice messages on the field and players’ helmets will be back this year, as will other divisive initiatives.
“They’re bringing back a lot of elements from last year,” a league source told the outlet.
