Anti-Israel prof Melanie Yazzie called on students to “decolonize” and “dismantle” the United States.

A professor at University of Minnesota recently called on students during a panel discussion to “dismantle the settler project that is the United States.”

Professor Melanie Yazzie was participating on a panel hosted by The Red Nation, a group to which she belongs. The anti-Israel organization’s about page says the organization is “dedicated to the liberation of Native peoples from capitalism and colonialism” and announces its support for Palestine and “their struggle for decolonization and landback.”

The page has its own podcast playlist page that includes an episode titled, “A free Palestine frees us all” and another published on Oct. 9 called, “‘A nightmare and a dream’: Palestinians rise up.”

In a clip of the discussion posted by X account @MythinformedMKE Yazzie said that people often associate the “landback” movement with “genocide.”

Introducing the topic she said “landback” is not genocide but it is certainly “going to happen.”

“What we really want to take away tonight, is… ‘We’re in the belly of the beast,” Yazzie told the audience. “We’re all indigenous people who come from nations that are under occupation by the United States government.”

“And of course the US bankrolls the Israeli occupation of Palestinian land. They’re one in the same,” Yazzie added.

Yazzie then further talked about the United States as the “greatest predator empire that ever existed.”

“The goal is to dismantle the settler project that is the United States. For the freedom and future of all life on this planet depends on that,” Yazzie concluded.”

The clip is from a two hour long video from Red Nation’s YouTube channel of a “teach in.” Another speaker on the panel, Nick Estes, at one point compared the two nations of Israel and the United States and said that for justice to be met, “decolonization – not only is it an imperative – but is a necessity for life on this planet.”

On November 4, Yazzie delivered a speech to 300,000 anti-Israel marchers in Washington DC where she proclaimed that “decolonization and land back are the only forms of justice for the crimes of settler colonialism” and that “[a] free Palestine frees us all to build a future of peace and equality.”

During the same day’s protests, Palestinian activists scaled the gates of the White House and wiped red paint on the walls.
