Canada Begins Euthanizing Veterans to Cut Back on Costly Treatments

by

The Canadian government is now pressuring military veterans into “assisted suicide” in order to relieve the burden on the nation’s socialized taxpayer-funded healthcare system.

Veterans who require costly treatments are now being pushed into being euthanized under the government’s “Medical Assistance in Dying” (MAiD) program.

The news comes as the United Kingdom edges closer to passing its own euthanasia laws.

Kelsi Sheren, a Canadian Armed Forces veteran injured in Afghanistan, is calling on UK citizens to take a stand against the legalization of euthanasia.

Sheren is highlighting cases where disabled veterans have been encouraged to consider assisted suicide.

She served as an artillery gunner in the Canadian Armed Forces.

“During my deployment, I was sent outside the wire to work alongside the British military in OP TORA ARWA,” Sheren revealed.

“That mission changed my life.

“I was injured and medically released in 2011 with PTSD, hearing loss, and a traumatic brain injury (TBI).

“Today, I live as a 100% disabled combat veteran.”

Her experiences led her to become an outspoken advocate, particularly after learning about Canadian veterans facing euthanasia as a proposed solution instead of receiving proper care.

Speaking to True North last year, she explained how this disturbing trend pushed her to raise awareness.

“My issue with (euthanasia) is how we are killing people and how we have a predatory behavior of telling individuals that they can’t heal, they can’t get better and the solution to their problems is death,” she said.

In Canada, veterans are reporting that they are being pressured into euthanasia by the Veterans Affairs Department when seeking assistance.

Christine Gauthier, a five-time world Paralympic champion, was among them.

After requesting care, she received a letter stating:

“If it’s too difficult for you to continue living, Madam, we can offer you medical assistance in dying.”

In another case, a veteran who contacted a crisis hotline was presented with assisted suicide as an option.

Sheren and other advocates are warning UK lawmakers that similar incidents will occur if assisted suicide, which has passed a second reading in the UK Parliament, is legalized.

Alarmingly, one such case has already been reported—despite assisted suicide still being illegal in the UK.

In a recent report, Sheren revealed a shocking incident:

“A 25-year-old UK veteran was in crisis and asked for help,” she wrote on her Substack.

“A UK doctor suggested assisted suicide illegally.

“The police have been contacted. Will they act?”

On 12 February, a UK veteran reached out to Sheren, recounting his experience:
