Kristi Noem Announces FIVE More Detention Centers Like Alligator Alcatraz In the Works
By Kaley
Alligator Alcatraz is doing so well that plans are underway to open five more across the country!
DHS Secretary Kristi Noem announced today that governors of five states are in talks to build detention centers modeled after Florida’s Alligator Alcatraz.
Watch what she had to say here:
Noem did not reveal the specifics of which states these new facilities would be built in yet.
But, they are sorely needed, as the success ICE is having is a double-edged sword.
Basically, ICE is detaining so many illegal aliens that they are having trouble storing them all until they can be deported.
Newsweek noted:
However, ICE is struggling with limited capacity and resources to fulfill its mission of millions of deportations. In addition to the $45 billion to expand ICE detention centers allocated in Trump’s “big, beautiful” bill, the White House is trying other ways to increase capacity, from repurposing Guantanamo Bay to new detention center contracts issued for private companies GEO Group and CoreCivic…
Since January, the Trump administration has been increasing its efforts to arrest and detain illegal immigrants. While Congress has allocated funding for around tens of thousands of more beds in the current tax bill, the number of detainees stood at roughly 56,300 as of mid-June.
