For years, we’ve all watched in horror as our nation’s once-great cities descended into a state of managed decline. Under the absurd banner of “equity,” a plague of progressive prosecutors unleashed a reckless experiment on the American people, effectively decriminalizing crime and siding with the thug over the taxpayer. The consequences were as predictable as they were devastating: rampant crime, brazen lawlessness, and a cloud of fear settling over communities that deserve to be safe.
This radical nonsense, which pretends criminals are the real victims, has left a scar on the country. Families have been broken, businesses have shuttered, and the very fabric of civil society has been torn apart. For many, it felt like a terminal diagnosis, a bleak look at what happens when the adults leave the room and common sense is abandoned.
But in a city long considered a lost cause, something remarkable is happening—a comeback story that offers a vital lesson for the entire country. After years of being hollowed out by progressive malpractice, Baltimore is suddenly boasting its lowest homicide rate in decades. The reason is refreshingly simple, and it’s a truth that Democrats are desperate to conceal. The city’s new State’s Attorney, Ivan Bates, finally did the unthinkable: he acknowledged reality.
From a Facebook post by Baltimore City State’s Attorney Ivan Bates:
“While some have criticized our office for moving beyond the policies of the previous administration, the progress we’ve made in reducing homicides in Baltimore tells a different story—one grounded in results, not rhetoric. By repealing ineffective non-prosecution policies, we’ve empowered our police officers to re-engage fully in the mission of public safety—not only as law enforcers, but as violence interrupters working proactively in our communities.”
