Leftists can’t deal with Venezuelans celebrating freedom from socialistic slavery.
People who have suffered under the ‘warmth of collectivism,’ or, what Hugo Chavez called the ‘sea of happiness,’ are getting tired of leftists who tell them they never had it so good under Maduro.
It’s truly incredible sometimes how fate manages to arrange events for maximum effect.
First, we had communist Mayor Zohran Mamdani expound on ‘warmth of collectivism’ and then fortuitously a few days later the world was reminded, just how bad this can be. Because when you get right down to it, there are just two fundamental ideologies, and the newly minted mayor just reminded everyone of that fact.
Whether you want to call the societal slavery system in Venezuela communism, collectivism, or what Chavez called “socialism for the 21st century,” it failed to work as promised just like every other time it’s been tried.
But being a leftist means you never have to admit you’re wrong, except that now they must confront the very people who have been suffering under the ‘warmth of collectivism‘ for so many years.
And instead of seeing this as a ‘learing’ (sic – from Minnesota) opportunity, they chose to lecture the good people of Venezuela that they weren’t really suffering (presumably because it wasn’t really socialism).
Note that, thanks to Mamdani’s words, we’re using the generic term ‘collectivism’ because it avoids many of the left’s semantic games in discerning which version of the left’s political poison is at play.
Millions of people — in Venezuela, it was literally a third of the population — have had to leave their homelands because of the ever-wonderous ‘warmth of collectivism.’ That warmth was experienced as repression and a lack of food. Ninety percent of Venezuela was impoverished as of 2019. This is something leftists with their inane ‘resist‘ signs will never understand.
