Democrats Are Stupider Than I Thought They Were Yesterday

A reporter pressed Rep. Byron Donalds on Capitol Hill about Democratic plans to introduce impeachment legislation against Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem, citing recent actions tied to Minnesota.
“So first off, I know Democrats here, in a couple hours, are going to be introducing legislation to try and impeach the Department of Homeland Security Secretary, Kristi Noem, of course, this is coming after what was going to take place in Minnesota,” the reporter said.
“Why?” Donalds responded.
“I believe that she believes the Secretary is acting illegally,” the reporter said.
“I’m sorry, go ahead. What’s your question?” Donalds replied.
“I kind of just wanted to get you reaction to Democrats pledging this fight, and also this is in conjunction with the Progressive Caucus yesterday saying that they want to include funding from DHS until there are reforms in ICE,” the reporter said.
Donalds sharply criticized the effort, calling it misguided and politically driven.
“This is the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard in my life,” Donalds said.
“Let’s get to the core of the issue. You are not allowed to start your vehicle drive your vehicle at a law enforcement official, whether it’s your local cop, your local sheriff, state troopers, ICE officers, Border Patrol agents, FBI agents, Secret Service agents, you’re not allowed to do that. If you use your vehicle as a weapon they will draw their weapon and respond and defend themselves. That’s what they’re trained to do. Every law enforcement officer in the country is trying to do.”
He continued, “If the Democrats now think that that’s cause for impatient impeachment, then they are stupider than I thought they were yesterday. This is dumb. This makes no sense. This is not helping anything. All it’s doing is creating a political divide in this country where one does not exist.”
Donalds said DHS and ICE were carrying out federal law.
“ICE and the Department of Homeland Security are doing a very novel thing. They are following federal immigration law. If you do not like that, change the law. But here’s the problem, the Democrats can’t guard him votes to change the vote.”
