A Polish lawmaker forcefully defended his country’s immigration policies during a back-and-forth with a reporter, emphasizing Poland’s refusal to accept illegal migrants while highlighting economic and security outcomes.
The exchange began with a straightforward question.
“How many refugees has Poland taken?” the reporter asked.
“Zero,” Dominik Tarczynski replied.
“And you’re proud of that?” the reporter followed up.
Tarczynski clarified what he meant.
“If you are asking me, if you’re if you are asking me about Muslim Muslims, illegal immigration, none,” he said. “Not even one will come to Poland. Not even one, if it’s illegal.”
He added that Poland has accepted large numbers of Ukrainians.
“We took over 2 million Ukrainians who are working, who are peaceful in Poland,” Tarczynski said. “We will not receive even one Muslim, because this is what we promised.”
The reporter challenged him again.
“But I asked illegal immigrants. I asked about refugees,” the reporter said. “And Jean-Claude Juncker, the commission president, says that you’re racist. You sound proud of the fact that you haven’t taken any refugees.”
